Overwatch 2 Season 6 begins later this week and is set to be the biggest update to hit the game since the game first launched, bringing a new hero alongside multiple new modes.
Back in May of this year, Blizzard announced that it had cancelled the Overwatch 2 PvE mode. Considering the main reason Overwatch 2 was made in the first place was for this PvE mode with the story expansion, fans were understandably upset. To compensate Blizzard is debuting Invasion story missions in Overwatch 2 Season 6, with the kicker being that this content will cost money for players to access.
"Null Sector is bringing utter destruction to every city and seems to have an ulterior motive to kidnap Omnics for an unknown purpose. It’s up to the new Overwatch team to find out what their plans are and put a stop to them" reads a post on the Overwatch website introducing the mode.
Invasion will feature three missions taking place on three maps – Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Completing these missions will unlock the hero Sojourn permanently for anyone who hasn't obtained her yet.
Blizzard has confirmed via a Tweet on the @PlayOverwatch account that Overwatch 2 Season 6 will start on Thursday, August 10 at 8pm BST / 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT.
