Jake Paul and Nate Diaz have been handed medical suspensions after their boxing fight last weekend.
Paul dropped UFC legend Diaz in the fifth round en-route to a unanimous decision win in Dallas, Texas. Neither fighter was badly hurt in the bout but the local commission has made the decision suspend them for 31 days.; a ban which will have no impact on their respective careers.
Paul was the overwhelming favourite going into the fight and was never in trouble as Diaz struggled on his boxing debut. Paul is now expected to target a rematch with Tommy Fury who takes on KSI in Manchester in October while Diaz has repeatedly said he would be open to returning to the UFC.
Both Paul and Diaz took the opportunity to hit out at Conor McGregor after their fight after the Irishman had branded the bout "nonsense". Paul has been pushing heavily for a fight against McGregor since ditching his internet fame for a career in the ring, but said: "I don't care about that guy. I want Nate in MMA, I want more professional boxers and I want Canelo."
Diaz was also asked about McGregor's view of fight and said: "F*** that fool." The UFC legend was asked if he thinks Paul would beat McGregor in the ring, but he backed the Irishman by replying: "F*** no." Diaz has expressed interest in a third fight against McGregor and he also welcomed a rematch against Paul in MMA after the YouTuber laid out his $10million offer.

"Let's do it," Diaz said of a rematch with Paul in MMA. "We're going to have to co-promote with Real Fight Inc. He's big and he's tough, I wish I could have done better things but some s***, it didn't go the way I wanted it to. I should have trained better and done better things but it’s all good. He won this one but I'll fight anyone, I don't give a f***."
McGregor remains scheduled to fight Michael Chandler in his UFC comeback but no date has been announced while the Irishman waits to re-join the USADA drug-testing programme. He last fought in July 2021 when he broke his leg at the end of the first round of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.
