A PlayStation State of Play presentation is on it’s way tomorrow and is promising an exclusive look at new third-party and PSVR 2 titles and an extended look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Sony has announced its first State of Play presentation of 2023; promising a brand new look at some upcoming PS5, PS4 and PSVR 2 titles. Xbox and Nintendo have given presentations of their own in the past month (an Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct and the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, respectively). So, it’s finally time for PlayStation fans to get a turn, with Sony announcing the presentation in a PlayStation Blog post this week.
PlayStation State of Play February 2023: start time
PlayStation has confirmed that the State of Play February 2023 presentation will air on Thursday, February 23, and will kick off at 9pm GMT / 4pm ET / 1pm PT. While Sony hasn't announced how long the presentation will be, past State of Play showcases have lasted around 20 to 30 minutes.
This stream could verge a bit on the longer side, as Sony has promised an extended 15-minute look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. If it keeps to a typical State of Play runtime it would leave about 10 minutes to show everything else, so you should probably expect this presentation to be closer to the 30 minute mark.

PlayStation State of Play February 2023: what to expect
The PlayStation State of Play February 2023 event will include new looks at some anticipated games from Sony's third-party partners, as well as a first glimpse at five new PSVR 2 games set to arrive in 2023. 30 PSVR 2 games have already been announced, with a further 10 revealed this joining the lineup this week. We'll also be seeing an extended 15-minute look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – the upcoming title from the Batman Arkham series developers Rocksteady Games – which launches on May 26, 2023
In terms of other games we're likely to get a look at, I wouldn't expect any brand new game reveals outside of the PSVR 2 titles. However, I'm confident that we'll see more of these games in the stream:
Street Fighter 6
Capcom has historically been a big supporter of Sony’s State of Play presentations. We got our first look at the remake of Resident Evil 3 at the December 2019 State of Play, as well as Resident Evil 4’s remake and Street Fighter 6 at the June 2022 show.
The last character reveal for Street Fighter 6 was back at The Game Awards in December 2022, where gameplay for Dee Jay, Manon, Marisa, and JP was shown off for the first time. Currently, Zangief and newcomer Lily are the only characters left to be shown off from the starting roster, so perhaps we could see one of them show up ahead of the game's launch on June 2, 2023.
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 releases on March 24, 2023, so now is the perfect chance to give the game one last trailer. Every Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has had a pre-release demo. It's safe to assume one will be on its way for the Resident Evil 4 remake; perhaps one could launch after the presentation? I hope so.
PSVR 2 review – top-of-the-line performance that comes at a price
Final Fantasy 16
Another company that loves to be a part of State of Play is Square Enix. Final Fantasy 16 was also a part of the June 2022 State of Play, so we might see a brand new trailer for the game. It launches on June 22, 2023 and is set to be a PlayStation exclusive for at least six months seemingly confirmed by this PlayStation ad – although the Final Fantasy 16, Naoki Yoshida reckons you should just buy a PS5.
If we do see these three games, I don't think there will be much time left for anything else. A good way to make up for the lack of info would be some demos. Final Fantasy 7 Remake got a demo a few months in advance, so maybe Final Fantasy 16 will follow suit. We could even get a third Street Fighter 6 beta announcement; after the December and October playtests were a hit.
