Tottenham have until midnight on Friday to accept an offer from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane... or the transfer is off.

Kane, 30, is Bayern's first-choice transfer target after scoring 30 Premier League goals last season. The England captain has entered the final year of his contract and Spurs must decide whether to sell him this month or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Bayern are prepared to pay a club-record transfer fee for Kane, but it's unclear whether they will stump up Tottenham's asking price of £100million. The Germans were offering substantially less when the two clubs met for face-to-face talks on Monday.

Bayern will move onto other transfer targets if Tottenham refuse to accept their offer. Their ultimatum comes after a respected German broadcaster told Bayern to stop doing business with Spurs, a club that haven't won a league title since the "Stone Age".

As reported by The Telegraph, Bayern on the verge of ending their summer-long pursuit of Kane. Thomas Tuchel's side are just eight days away from their first competitive game of the new season, the German Super Cup final against RB Leipzig.

Tottenham chair Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator and held talks with Bayern's chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe earlier this week. They failed to agree a deal and time is running out to get something sorted.

Kane is interested in joining Bayern but wants his future resolved before Tottenham's Premier League campaign starts at Brentford in nine days' time. Spurs are under new management following the appointment of former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

He is happy to see out the rest of his contract with Spurs and have the freedom to choose his teams next summer. Several clubs will be interested in the prolific striker, who has scored 213 Premier League goals during his career, if he becomes a free agent.

Kane's career is littered with individual triumphs. He is England's record scorer (58 goals) and Tottenham's record scorer (280 goals). He was also the top scorer at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and has claimed three Premier League Golden Boots.

Yet Kane has never won a major honour. He's lost two League Cup finals, the 2019 Champions League final and the Euro 2020 final. He was also part of the Tottenham side that finished second in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino six years ago.

Bayern were advised to ditch their pursuit of Kane by broadcaster Raimund Hink. His open letter read: Perhaps it's a last-ditch effort to keep you, who watch over the weal and woe of FC Bayern, from spending €100m or more on a, sorry, 30-year-old bone."

Hink added: "You can't let Tottenham show you up, dear Bayern officials. Don't ridicule. Who are they from this London suburb anyway? English champions in Stone Age football 62 and 72 years ago."
