Rebel Wilson has spoken of the heartbreaking reason why she chose to use a surrogate before welcoming her baby girl last year.
The Pitch Perfect star, 43, welcomed her first daughter in November 2022 when she and her partner Ramona Agruma became mums to newborn Royce Lillian. And now she has spoken out about why she decided to welcome a child via surrogacy.
In 2020, Rebel announced that she had a "year of health" where she focused on getting healthier because she wanted to become a mother. It all started when she went to the fertility doctor and was told she'd have a better chance of getting pregnant if she was healthier, which is what sparked the health kick.
The decision came as her 40th birthday approached, with the reasoning behind it due to polycystic ovarian syndrome - which in turn urged the star to lead a healthier lifestyle and sparked her massive weight loss.
Embarking on a health kick and body transformation, Rebel ended up losing a staggering 80lbs - which equates to around six stone - and then she started IVF. Speaking about her experience on TODAY last week, Rebel opened up candidly, with her addressing why she decided not to carry her baby herself.
Khloe Kardashian shares cryptic post hinting of a reunion with Tristan ThompsonShe told the outlet: "I was lucky to get an embryo from the process because of my age and because I have polycystic ovary syndrome. With just one embryo, I decided to go with surrogacy." The star went on: "Physically I could have carried the baby, but there was a much higher statistical chance it would work with surrogate."
Rebel is currently loved up with her partner Ramona, with the couple going public with their romance last summer. Last June Rebel took to Instagram to reveal her new relationship status, with her penning: "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess."
And earlier this year on February 19, Rebel announced that she and Ramona had got engaged while holidaying at Disneyland in California.
