Fossil fool Rishi Sunak is a Prime Minister stuck in the past.
No wonder he was attacked by a number of Conservative voices when renewable energy will give us cheaper power, supply security and jobs in the future as well as helping to save our burning planet. North Sea drilling licences and a heavily subsidised carbon scheme promoted by the oil and gas industry are not the answer, as wise heads know, including many Tories.
Sunak is more interested in creating culture wars than reducing your bill or averting environmental crisis. New oil and gas fields take decades to develop and output isn’t controlled by Britain.
Onshore wind turbines would provide the quickest, cheapest and cleanest electricity, yet Tory NIMBYs continue to oppose them. What works is what matters and that is renewable and nuclear energy, not continued reliance on fossil fuels.
Learn a lesson
Teachers ending their strikes by accepting a 6.5% pay rise exposes the inconsistencies in the Government’s approach to wages. Why do Tory Ministers think rail workers will swallow 4% and trade unions claim strings are attached even to that meagre amount?

Either by incompetence or mendacity, the Conservatives are guilty of fuelling strikes, including those on the rail network, in disputes that stretch back longer than a year. Ministers relieved about teachers will be to blame if they don’t roll up their sleeves to stop more strikes by rail workers, doctors, civil servants and others.
