A man in his 30s has died and another is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed earlier this week.

West Midlands Police confirmed last night a second suspect, a man aged 24, was arrested. It followed the arrest of another suspect aged 22, reports Birmingham Live. A force statement read: "We've arrested a second man as we continue to investigate after a man was fatally stabbed in Harrow Street, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, on Thursday (July 27). The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"A second man taken to hospital with serious injuries remained in a stable condition on Saturday. A 24-year-old man was arrested this morning from an address in Quinton on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

"A man, aged 22, detained on Thursday has been bailed with strict conditions as investigations continue. A cordon remains in place while those enquiries are ongoing."

A dad who lives within sight of the police forensic tent said he wants to move out of the area of protect his children from violence. He told the Express & Star: "I hate it round here, there is way too much violence. I have been here a year and want to leave, I don't want my kids growing up seeing all this violence. I want find somewhere else in Wolverhampton to live."

Zimbabwean Masters student Clever Tamba, who lives in the area, said he was "not surprised" there has been a murder in the area. The 38-year-old said: "I'm not surprised there has been a murder round here. There was a shooting a few weeks back and a stabbing. There does seem to be a lot of violence in this area.

"I am not sure whether it is to do with the cost of living, with more of people becoming more desperate, or because there is nothing to do for youngsters. I can see a lot more violence happening over the summer."
