Start your festival celebrations out on the high seas with a super cheap pre-Christmas cruise around the Med this year.

Cruise company, Seascanner has a great deal on a seven-night sail around the Western Mediterranean, taking in Barcelona, Marseilles, Genoa, La Specia (for Florence, Piza), Naples and Majorca.

While on board passengers can take a dip in one of four pools, soak up the sun on the pool deck or relax in the spa with its Turkish bath.

Meals at the á la carte and buffet restaurants are included, and guests can spend their evening on the nightclub dancefloor, watching a Vegas-inspired show in the theatre or joining fellow cruisers for a theme party.

The MSC Fantasia also has a choice of young people’s and kids' clubs, a formula-1 simulator and 4D cinema to ensure that passengers of all ages are entertained throughout their stay.

When it comes to accommodation, the cut-price deal price of £260 per person (after the discount is applied) includes a seven-night stay in an inside stateroom. These bedrooms come with en-suite facilities, a minibar, a TV and room service and sleep two people.

Sailing around some of the most famous tourist spots in the region, the MSC Cruise itinerary is as follows:

Day 1 - Barcelona, Spain - the ship sails at 6pm.

Day 2 - Marseille, France - passengers can explore the old harbour and admire the views from Notre-Dame de la Garde, as well as the first-class restaurants and shopping.

Day 3 - Genoa, Italy for a stroll to Porto Antico and visit Europe's largest aquarium in Christopher Columbus's birthplace, or passengers can take an excursion to the picturesque world heritage area Cinque Terre.

Day 4 - La Spezia (Florence/Piza), Italy - as the gateway to Florence, passengers can spend the day taking in world-famous attractions including the L’accademia Art Museum, the medieval bridge Ponte Vecchio and the city’s magnificent cathedral.

Day 5 - Naples, Italy - Guests can discover Capri, the Amalfi Coast or Pompeii, all of which are within a short distance of the Mediterranean city.

Day 6 - the boat will make its journey back around the coastline, allowing passengers to relax onboard their floating hotel.

Day 7 - Palma de Mallorca, Spain - relax on the beaches, bars and restaurants of the resort close to Palma.

Day 8 - Barcelona, Spain - back at base, passengers can explore the city famous for its beautiful beach and iconic architecture, before making their way back home.

The boat departs and returns from the Spanish city of Barcelona.
