EastEnders' missed murder clues - Brutal fight, necklace hint and second death

EastEnders viewers were sent into meltdown on Monday night, as a surprise flashforward clip confirmed a Christmas Day murder this year.

Stacey Slater, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar, Kathy Beale, Sharon Watts and Linda Carter were seen in shock as a mystery man laid dead on the floor.

With several of them injured or covered in blood, and one even holding a possible weapon, it's been teased one of the women are the killer.

But there may have been some major clues to the murder and other storylines surrounding the episodes in the clip, that many viewers may have missed.

From hints of a shock wedding, a second death and the victim's identity, here's what was given away in the special scene...

Wedding twist

It's very clear a wedding has taken place or is about to on Christmas Day. Despite Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell planning to get married on this day, it's Sharon Watts who is seen in a wedding dress.

Perhaps she marries on/off lover Keanu Taylor. After all, fans believe a scene on Monday night teased an engagement for the pair.

As the pair got intimate in the pub toilets, the door said 'engaged' and fans think this was a big sign. There's also the fact The Vic is decorated for a wedding reception, with a cake that has a 'Mr and Mrs' decoration on it.

The mystery victim is also dressed up in a suit, and is shown wearing cufflinks. So does this mean the groom has died, or could Phil be marrying Sharon instead of Kat?

Knight in shining armour

In the background of the scene, there was some armour decor going on with two knights.

Could these knights be a symbol for the women banding together to protect one of their own on Christmas Day?

Fans certainly think so, especially after show boss Chris Clenshaw teased of Linda getting a buyer for the pub: "Both Sharon and Nish are hoping to get the keys to the castle, but her knight in shining armour may not be who you think."

Could this be a coincidence, or could it hint that someone will come to Linda's rescue in dramatic fashion? After all, in the clip many of the women look as though they've acted out to protect someone.

Secret fight

There's a huge hint of a deadly struggle that leads to the murder at Christmas. Kathy has a ripped dress, as if someone has pulled at it.

Denise is wielding a broken bottle of champagne as if it is a weapon, while Stacey's hands are covered in blood.

Sharon also has blood all over her dress, while Linda has a split lip. While details have not been revealed, it's clear some sort of struggle has gone down, resulting in some injuries - and possibly a death.

Necklace hint

Denise's initial necklace, which has the letter 'D' on it, could be another clue as to who the victim is according to viewers of the BBC soap.

While it's likely it's just because of her name, as she's worn it before, some viewers can't help but suspect the 'D' stands for Dean, and that Dean Wicks is the murdered character.

Killer exposed?

While the injuries, blood and possible weapons tease the killer, perhaps the facial expressions of the six women could be something to go off of.

Kathy looks very concerned as she stares at Suki, almost as if the person is linked to Suki or Suki has done something.

Suki herself is deeply shocked to the point she has to sit down, as she stares at the mystery victim. Stacey looks panicked, while Linda also fights tears as she takes in the scene.

Sharon initially looks shocked before appearing emotional, but not emotional enough for it to be someone she is close to.

Denise appears shaken but doesn't seem as shocked or emotional as the other characters, with many guessing she could be the killer.

Second death

Amid the chaos of the dead body on the floor, some viewers might have missed a clue to another death on the soap.

It seems this death has happened prior to Christmas, as a photo of the character has been placed on the bar like a tribute.

The photo is of Lola Pearce, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year. She soon learned her tumour was inoperable and that her condition was terminal.

This is the first confirmation that Lola dies this year, while exact details are not yet known.

Victim hints

Viewers are already speculating over who the victim will be. Nish Panesar is hotly tipped to be killed off, as many fans think Suki's reaction hints at it being someone linked to her.

Fans think controlling Nish will go for Suki and the other girls will step in to save her. In a similar theory, fans think the victim could be Dean Wicks.

With hints of a return on the way, viewers think Linda's cut lip is a sign he returns and attacks her, only for one of the ladies to save her.

Then there's the cufflinks on the body, which hint that it could be a groom or a member of the wedding party who dies. Fans are convinced the cufflinks are the same ones Phil Mitchell was seen wearing in a recent episode.

So does Phil die, or will he lend them to the unlucky victim?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
