Much like many of his royal relatives before him, Prince George was born at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The day after he was born (July 23), the little prince made his public debut outside of the Lindo Wing in his parents arms.

The couple happily spoke to the waiting media and revealed everything from how George had a "good set of lungs" to how he already had more hair than Prince William.

While presenting their son to the world's cameras was clearly a daunting process, the Prince and Princess of Wales had a clever plan to ensure that their departure from the hospital ran as smoothly as possible.

The story was revealed by Kate on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast 'Happy Mum, Happy Baby'.

Prince George Alexander Louis was born on July 22, 2013, and was presented to the waiting media and eager royal fans the next day.

While all eyes were on the new baby, Prince William managed to attract a lot of attention for the effortless way that he clipped the car seat in before driving his family home to Kensington Palace.

But it would seem he had already practised the move many times as Kate revealed on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast.

The royal couple practised the move several times in order to avoid fumbling or embarrassing themselves in front of everyone.

She explained: "We were like ‘What do we do?... in a swaddle?’. ‘How’s this supposed to work?!’

"We even tried to practice with a little baby, like a little doll, at home but you know it just never works out the way you planned it so it was quite hard to do that on the world’s stage, but no, he did a very good job."

Soon after Prince George was born he was taken to spend his first few days with his parents at Carole and Michael Middleton's home in Berkshire.

It was reported at the time that Prince William and Kate were determined to do everything themselves but soon found it a challenge.

Royal sources close to the Prince and Princess of Wales revealed that Prince George was getting up more than six times every night and new-dad Prince William found this particularly taxing as he worked to balance parenthood with his royal duties.

However, it would appear that the Prince soon found a special tactic that worked to relax his baby son and send him off to sleep. Speaking of Prince William's first days of fatherhood, a royal insider said: "William had no idea it would be this tough.

"He's using a bizarre tactic of belting out Coldplay anthems at all hours of the night even though he can barely hold a note. It's even keeping Kate's parents awake.

His favourite song is 'Paradise' and he also loves doing 'Yellow'. Coldplay aren't even his favourite band, but George responds to their songs the most and settles back down."
