EastEnders star Patsy Kensit has called off her fifth marriage to her property tycoon fiancé, Patric Cassidy.
The actress, 55, who played Emma Harding – mother of the late Lola Pearce - on the BBC One soap, has ended her engagement with her millionaire fiancé who got down on one knee and popped the all important question back in February.
Five months on from their whirlwind engagement, Patsy has now reportedly called off the romance in a bid to focus on her career and work instead after Patric proposed within the first few weeks of the pair dating.
It comes as EastEnders bosses have been left so impressed with Patsy that they have brought her back for a second time.
“I can confirm they have split, and would appreciate that she is given her privacy regarding the matter. She is currently very busy working," a spokesperson for Patsy told The Sun on Sunday.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessMeanwhile, an insider added to The Sun that Patsy and Patric still have 'a lot of love for each other' following their split.
“The whirlwind romance has come to a halt and the couple have decided to go their separate ways," the source claimed.
"They have a lot of love for one another, but ultimately, she knew that they couldn’t make it work in the long-term so felt it was best not to move forward with their relationship. Patsy has lots of exciting work opportunities at the moment, and she is throwing herself into her career.”
Opening up about her romance with Patric earlier this month, Patsy told The Mirror: “These things happen when you least expect it. I got set up on a blind date, so there you go.”
She added that her expectations of a relationship are slightly different than they were when she was younger, with Patsy, who has been married four times, saying, “I think we have to understand that you are never going to be able to change someone. I use the word companionship. I’m not ruling the intimacy side of things out but relationships are different at this age, and that is good and OK. You have got to be hopeful and grateful.”
Back in February, romantic Patric got down on one knee in the centre of a love heart made out of in red petals on the sand as the sun set behind them.
It was the first time Patsy has ever been pictured with her beau, as she took to social media to share her joy after the romantic engagement.
Patsy also gave a glimpse of her rock of an engagement ring. In the accompanying caption the soap star simply wrote: "I said yes".
The Mirror has contacted Patsy's representatives for further comment on this story.
