An alleged serial killer Rex Heuermann has been captured in a haunting Google Street View image.

The photo, taken in June 2022 on East 36th Street near Heuermann's Midtown Manhattan office, appears to show him engaged in conversation with an unidentified woman.

The photo captures oblivious New Yorkers passing by unware that they were walking past a man suspected of being the notorious Gilgo Beach serial killer.

The image, initially uncovered by online investigators scouring the internet for any trace of Heuermann, showcases the suspect wearing a light blue dress shirt, reminiscent of the attire he wore in a YouTube interview and other surveillance images previously released by the police.

He also appears to be carrying the same distinctive over-the-shoulder brown bag that he had in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Rex Heuermann, a 6-foot-4 architect hailing from Massapequa Park, has been implicated in the murders of three young sex workers who were tragically found buried in burlap sacks on Long Island.

The Google Street View image was captured just a few months prior to the police narrowing their focus on Heuermann as the prime suspect in the heinous crimes.

Videos of Heuermann's arrest depict the moment he was surrounded by plainclothes officers on a Manhattan block, subsequently having his bag confiscated before being taken into custody. The arrest came after six months of police surveillance.

Having worked in Midtown for several decades as the owner of RH Architecture, Heuermann maintained a professional appearance despite the horrors that he allegedly committed.

He currently faces three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder related to the deaths of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Costello. Additionally, Heuermann is considered the primary suspect in the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, aged 25. He pleaded not guilty.

Last week, the police unveiled a trove of evidence against Heuermann, including incriminating phone calls made from burner phones and DNA obtained from a discarded slice of pizza that he had tossed near his Manhattan office.

The arrest comes after over a decade of uncertainty in the case of the Long Island serial killer, who had dumped the remains of female victims along remote stretches of coastline in New York

The victims in the case were primarily sex workers, and their remains were found along Gilgo Beach. Some victims have yet to be identified. While the arrest is a significant development, investigators believe that Heuermann may not be responsible for all of the deaths.
