Prince Andrew could have his holiday home taken away by King Charles as he refuses to leave his Windsor mansion. While the Duke of York usually enjoys a summer getaway at Balmoral, the King has reportedly decided to keep the royal residence open to the public for a further two weeks.

The decision is said to have been made as a way of bringing in extra revenue - but a source claimed Andrew, 63, would likely have his holiday plans disrupted.

This year, Balmoral will remain open to the public daily until August 16 - while the King is expected to take his summer break to the Birkhall, his home on the Balmoral Estate, while he waits for the castle to close to tourists.

However, the extra public dates could meal Prince Andrew may not get a chance to visit the rural getaway.

According to Richard Eden for the Daily Mail, the the extra dates will "bring significant new revenue into the estate" but says "it may, however, have the effect of annoying the Duke of York, who has treasured his time in Royal Deeside ever since he was a little boy".

It comes after claims King Charles had plans to kick Prince Andrew from his Royal Lodge home in Windsor - however sources say the Duke of York will be allowed to remain in the property while Sarah Ferguson recovers from breast cancer surgery.

The 64-year-old underwent a gruelling eight-hour mastectomy to get rid of the cancer, and is now recovering from the major surgery.

Andrew's battle to stay in the Lodge on the Windsor estate has been ongoing for months, with reports he had refused to leave amidst the King's plans to slash his £250k income meaning he won't be able to afford renovations.

The lease on the home is due to last another several decades, but the building is reportedly in dire need of renovations. Sources close to the Prince have said the King has told him he'll have to fund the work out of his own pocket.

Uncertainty over the divorcees' ability to stay at the home for now have been put on a backburner, royal insiders told Page Six. News that Sarah Ferguson had undergone treatment for breast cancer emerged last month, as it transpired doctors had spotted it while carrying out a routine mammogram.

She was discharged from King Edvard VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, on Sunday last weekend after the successful operation, as representatives said her experience "underlines the importance of regular screening".

A spokesman for the Duchess said: "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening. She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully."
