A Tory charlatan, proven liar and an incompetent, Boris Johnson resembles a criminal returning to the scene of his crime when he sticks his oar in on Brexit.

The ex-Prime Minister does not care about the people of Northern Ireland he deceived when signing the very deal he now criticises or, for that matter, give a fig for the prosperity and happiness of most folk in Britain.

He is inciting revolt against Rishi Sunak because he dreams of returning triumphant to No10. The people of the UK are pawns in Johnson’s game, pieces to be sacrificed for his insatiable ego and crazed goal.

Should the Conservative majority on a Commons committee follow the truth and resist Tory pressure to clear Johnson of lying to Parliament over Covid rule-breaking parties, the rogue could be suspended and thrown out in a by-election.

Until then, every time he opens his mouth we must remember he is unlikely to be honest.

Feed all kids

Every child matters so all pupils, no matter where they live or their family income, need a free hot meal at school.

London Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan deserves huge credit for feeding all primary school children in the capital, in a boost for hard-up families struggling just above the breadline.

The Labour administration in Wales is also introducing universal free lunches in junior schools and Scotland is heading the same way.

To achieve progress in much of England, central government funding is crucial.

The money will not be provided under the Conservatives, making free school meals another reason to put Labour into power.

Heartbreaking

The hearts of millions will go out to the family of Nicola Bulley after a body was found in the River Wyre in Lancashire, as police await formal identification.

Questions need to be asked about why it took so long to find a body but let us never lose sight of the family at the heart of this tragedy.
