Two newborn baby girls were found dead in a bag of rubbish at a daycare centre inside a hospital.
Cleaning staff made the the gruesome find yesterday evening inside a bathroom at the facility in Chicago, Illinois. The two babies have since been named Sepia and Radical Red.
Janitors were cleaning at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus when they spotted bloodstains leading to a cabinet. Inside they found the two tiny bodies in a black rubbish bag.
A 29-year-old woman, who works at the centre, was found bleeding in the bathroom about an hour before the children were discovered.
A police report identified the woman, who took a class at the centre, as the infants' mum. The woman was taken for plastic surgery, police said.

The bodies were found at the Bernice Lavin Early Childhood Education Center in Chicago (abc 7)A statement read: "Chicago police are conducting death investigations after two newborn girls were found dead inside a childcare centre bathroom in Streeterville.
"Dispatchers told responding officers that the babies were in a trash bag. The children were not breathing when first responders arrived. The newborns were rushed to Lurie Children's Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Hospital staff named the two girls Sepia and Radical Red.
"Area Three detectives are handling the investigation, which was initially classified as endangering the life or health of children."
A spokesperson with Northwestern Medicine told FOX 32: "An emergency medical situation involving a daycare employee occurred this evening at the daycare facility on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus.
"No daycare children were involved or impacted by the situation. The Chicago Fire and Police Departments were called. We are working with CPD regarding this incident and unable to comment further at this time." Investigations continue but so far no arrests have been made.
