A heartbroken brother has paid tribute to his 'always laughing' little sister who was tragically found dead.

Sophie Lambert, 22, from Harrogate, went missing around 7.06pm on Friday, June 16 - sparking an urgent response from her family and extensive police searches of the area.

North Yorkshire Police sadly confirmed that her body had found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge on the morning of June 21.

She will be laid to rest on Friday - and in a unique tribute, her brother has now asked that guests wear odd socks to the service, reports Yorkshire Live.

His sister never believed in wearing the same coloured socks, 27-year-old Craig Robinson said, as she said life was too short to match them.

He has shared a heart-breaking tribute to his "one in a billion" sister as he asks for donations to help towards the 22-year-old's funeral costs.

Craig said: "Well Sophie, my little sister, what can I say you’ve grown your wings and flown away, the rainbow in the sky the day you grew your wings let us know you arrived safely.

"You are now an Angel watching down on us leading us along the way, you’ll always be remembered for the joy, laughter and happiness you brought to us, there wasn’t a day that didn’t go by that your laugh didn’t make me laugh, you were your own little character and that’s why we loved you.

"You did us all proud and we will treasure that forever, this world is evil and a cruel place, we know this world wasn’t for you as you're too good for this world. You're now in a better place with the other angels.

"Until we meet again Soph, rest easy and fly high, this isn’t goodbye it’s farewell as I know one day we will meet again. I love you little sis sleep tight. Your big brother, Craig."

Sophie had battled for over a decade with mental health, he shared.

Her tragic death has now sparked him to try and make a difference in his community by reaching out to anyone who may need that someone to talk to in a bid to help.

Craig said Sophie was a "bright girl" who "loved a good laugh" and always made people smile.

"She would laugh at the littlest of things in life, she really was a character in herself.", he added.

Sophie loved animals, and used to own horses. She had two dogs, Boston and Bentley, who she "treated and loved like her two sons".

Craig has now set up a Gofundme page to help cover his sister's funeral costs and give her the 'best' send-off they can.

The 27-year-old said: "Sophie, my little sister, what can I say, you’ve grown your wings and flown away, I hope you're safe up there. I love you millions Sophie, your big brother, Craig."

Sophie's funeral will be led by a horse and carriage. Craig added: "I thank everyone once again for the support, help and donations they have given us in order to give Sophie the spend off she has always deserved."

If you're struggling and need to talk, the Samaritans operate a free helpline open 24/7 on 116 123. Alternatively, you can email jo@samaritans.org or visit their site to find your local branch
