Starstruck returned to ITV tonight, with fans quick to complain about the new series.
The show is back again for 2023, with Shania Twain joining the panel alongside returning panellists Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Adam Lambert, whilst Olly Murs continued as host of the ITV show.
However, as the show made its return for a new series, fans were quick to express their frustrations - as they pointed out the unusual costume choices for the first act of the night as three members of the public turned into Sir Tom Jones.
Taking to Twitter, fans made their feelings about it all very clear.
"When your supposed to look like Tom Jones but look more like Fred West @ITV #starstruck," one penned, as another added: "Bit unnerving that all the Tom Jones impersonators look like Fred West #starstruck."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesA third penned: "The Tom Jones makeovers are very dodgy, especially the wigs. One of them looks more like Fred West #Starstruck."
"Poundland version of tom #Starstruck," a fourth added, with a fifth writing: "Tom Jones? They look more like Fred West #starstruck."
Olly Murs previously revealed if he could transform into anyone it would be Tom Jones.
Asked if he could transform himself into another music icon, who would it be and why, he said: "Tom Jones. I’ve been working with him for the last few years and I feel like I know him well enough to be him. I might need a bit more work on the Welsh accent! I need to get the accent down and I need to somehow get my hair a little bit curlier. I think if I could master that then I’ve got Tom down."
The singer insisted people to "expect the unexpected" with the costumes.
"Expect the unexpected. They all look like the legends but there are some that are great and some that are mind blowing and some of the best ones that I’ve seen. It's just incredible," he shared ahead of the series.
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, said of Shania's appointment: "Shania is one of the all time music greats, not to mention a fabulous personality, so it’s an honour to welcome her to the Starstruck panel alongside Adam, Beverley, Jason and of course Olly at the helm."
The show had been likened to 90s show Stars In Their Eyes, which premiered in 1990 and was on the air until December 2006.
