Oxfam has fired another 10 staff for breaches of its sexual misconduct and child protection policies, five years after the Haiti abuse scandal.

The sackings happened in 2021 and 2022 but only emerged in the charity’s 180-page annual report.

It has followed a pledge to root out abusers after a 2018 expose into the appalling behaviour of some of its aid workers in Haiti.

Staff providing humanitarian support reportedly used sex workers after an earthquake killed 220,000 people in 2010.

The scandal led to the charity being blocked from bidding for government funding for 19 months. The ban was lifted in November.

The latest round of sackings are likely to include three people axed in June 2021 over allegations of sexual misconduct in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Last summer a teenage volunteer at a UK Oxfam shop claimed she was preyed upon by a manager, but was advised not to report him to police as it would delay an internal inquiry.

The charity, which received £277million of support last year, refused to give details of the latest sackings. It said: “Oxfam takes all misconduct extremely seriously.

“We have a strict code of conduct and encourage people to report concerns so we can investigate.”
