'Deliveroo rider' stabbed near McDonalds as horrified witnesses rush to his aid

A man believed to be a Deliveroo rider has been stabbed in a horror attack on a busy UK street.

Police were called to Fore Street in Edmonton, London on Saturday afternoon to find a large crowd providing first aid to the victim.

Shocking footage of the incident shared on social media showed a man in a Deliveroo jacket lying down in the road with a large blue box back lying next to him.

Police said a 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A man believed to be in his late 20s was admitted to a nearby hospital, where he is in a non-life-threatening condition.

Reports on social media said the victim was attempting to stop his bicycle being stolen when he was stabbed.

A video shared online showed a man being pinned on the ground by a security guard as crowds of people gather around the cyclist a few yards away. Some appear to be giving help to the injured man while others film the incident on their mobile phones.

Neither the police or Deliveroo have confirmed whether the victim was a Deliveroo employee.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16:27hrs on Saturday, 1 July to Fore Street, N18 following reports of a male stabbed.

"Officers arrived and found a large crowd who were providing first aid to the man, who is believed to be aged in his late 20s.

"He has been taken to a north London hospital; we await an update on his condition.

"A 19-year-old man was detained nearby and subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to a north London hospital for treatment; his injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

"A crime scene is in place, and Fore Street is closed between the A406 and Colyton Way, N19.

Police said members of North Area Criminal Investigation Department are investigating the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 5043/01Jul.

Deliveroo said they were urgently investigating the incident.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "This is a horrific incident that has no place in our communities. We are extremely concerned by the images we have seen and we are investigating urgently.
