The New York Jets will see two of their all-time great defensive players enshrined into the franchise's Hall of Fame on the same night this summer, but it might be an awkward moment for the pair.

Defensive lineman Joe Klecko spent 10 years with the Jets from 1977 to 1987 and dominant cornerback Darrelle Revis had two spells with the team - seven years from 2007 to 2012 and another short stint in 2015 and 2016.

The Jets have announced that nine players will enter the Hall of Fame in August, and as they will take to the stage together, memories of some choice words from the cornerback to Klecko have been rekindled.

Klecko had been speaking on ESPN Radio about his previous interactions with Revis, stating that he didn't say much to him when they met at the Super Bowl.

The clip of Klecko speaking about Revis and the fact that he had little to say has been shared on social channels, which Revis responded to - making his feelings known for him.

Revis tweeted: "I don't speak to people I don't know know very well. And we did not speak based on you saying you were jealous of my success @ the Super Bowl.

"My mindset is clearly I'm @ the top of that list as the best ever but as a gentlemen I decided to say something cool for a headline."

A Jets fan then asked Revis to 'walk back' his comments on fellow team legend Klecko, and he did not hold back once again.

He tweeted: "I ain’t walking s*** back I said what I said. It’s true what I said but also true that I’m the best defensive player in Jets history period. I don’t even know why this is even a conversation."

Revis had been criticised by Jets fans after leaving the team on bad terms in 2012, before joining their divisional rival New England Patriots - winning a Super Bowl when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

He re-joined the team for two further seasons in 2015, before a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs before retiring.

For around six years, Revis was widely regarded as the best cornerback in the league - being named to four All Pro teams and seven Pro Bowls.

Klecko racked up 78 sacks in 155 games - an impressive tally considering the era he played in, with teams running the ball more frequently then in today's pass-heavy NFL.
