Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen ran a blistering speed at the USATF Grand Prix in New York City this past weekend, tying the fourth-fastest time in the world this year.

Allen posted a 110m hurdles time of 13.04 seconds, as he finished second in the race while preparing for both athletics and the upcoming NFL season.

Allen had not played American Football since his college days after putting athletics first, when he'd been a receiver for the University of Oregon. He even finished fourth in the 110m hurdles event at the Tokyo Olympics and fifth in the 2016 Rio Games. But in 2022, he stated his intentions to play once again and signed with the Eagles.

Although he did not play a game last season, Allen had been on the practice squad throughout the year with the coaches intrigued on what he could bring to the team in the future.

After his incredible hurdles showing, Allen spoke on how he plans to balance both sports for the next few years.

Speaking on the broadcast on NBC Sports, Allen said: "It's going well. You know, balancing both is difficult, but I'm having a lot of fun. As long as I can stay healthy, it's good to compete against these guys in high-quality competition. You know, 13.01 and 13.04 is nothing to scoff at, so we're ready to go."

With four weeks to go until Allen is set to return to the Eagles for training camp, he will spend the next few weeks training before competing at the USATF Outdoor Championship on July 6.

Allen is not the only NFL star to take to the track this off-season, with Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill winning in the men’s 60-meter race at the USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships in March.

And in previous years, DK Metcalf has also ran on track - competing with OIympic sprinters in 2021 when he posted a 100m time of 10.37 time - despite being five stone heavier than other racers and weighing 240lbs.

Metcalf and Hill have gone back and forth with one another on who the fastest receiver is, with the Seattle Seahawks star going on FOX Sports ' UNDISPUTED and telling hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless that he's been attempting to set up a race for as long as two years.

He said: "Look, I had my people contact his people, we still couldn't come to an agreement. We’ve been trying to do this for two years now. We haven’t come to an agreement in two years but you’ve seen me running in a track meet, I didn’t race against no 30-year-olds but whenever you wanna get this done, let me know."

Those two might not want to get Allen involved in that race, who showed this past weekend that he might legitimately be the fastest player in the league.
