A 19-year-old was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after nurses discovered a newborn baby in a rubbish bin

The teenage mother, 19-year-old Alexee Trevizo, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, the Post reports.
Alexee arrived at the hospital complaining of back pain, after allegedely concealing her pregnancy from her mother and doctors - it is not clear why the young woman felt compelled to do so.
Hospital security footage shows Alexee hastily running towards a bathroom in the hallway, closely followed by her mother.

Despite her mother's attempts to enter the bathroom, Alexee allegedly refused to let her in. Nurses grew suspicious and concerned for her welfare as she stayed locked inside for an extended period.

However, just moments before the nurse could open the door, Alexee unlocked it herself. Inside the bathroom, nurses discovered Alexee allegedly cleaning a significant amount of blood from the floor.
The situation took a devastating turn when a hospital worker called to clean up the mess noticed a bloodied garbage bin that seemed out of place.
A nurse examined the trash and found the lifeless body of a newborn boy. The shocking discovery prompted an immediate response from the hospital staff, who confirmed that the infant was no longer breathing.

“I’m sorry. It came out of me and I didn’t know what to do,” Alexee can be heard saying in police bodycam footage.
“I was scared,” she said before telling nurses that “it was not crying or nothing.”
Alexee confessed to disposing of the newborn when confronted by the police. It is currently unclear what drove her to do so.
While Alexee maintained that the baby appeared stillborn, the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator allege that the baby's death was a result of homicide.

Following her release from jail, Alexee has been allowed to finish the school year without ankle monitoring or house arrest while awaiting trial.
