The UK is now enjoying some well deserved sun and we need to update our wardrobes pronto. There are countless fashion labels with a flurry of items to create light outfits to keep cool during the heatwave, but we have spotted an affordable collection which you may just fall in love with just as much as we have.
We picked a mix of items from the IsawItFirst Summer collection for all different occasions, and we believe they will get you through some outings with ease.
Harriet tries the
There’s nothing I love more than a neutral outfit, something I can throw together without having to think about clashing colours or patterns. Which is why this stone caught my eye.
Love Island's Haris spills on unaired row between Zara and TanyelAs a short girlie, pushing 5ft 2, I normally avoid buying trousers unless they are from a petite range or I can try them on in store, but I took a risk with this. The fact that I’d most likely wear these over a bikini by the pool or on a beach I didn’t mind too much at the thought of them being too long.
My usual size 8 came, it’s safe to say I resembled a parachute more than the chic summer look I had in mind. So, I did a quick return and swapped them for the size down, which I’d recommend wearers to do. The size 6 are still really oversized, floaty and could do with a hem for me, but I love the feel.
It’s definitely an outfit I had in mind for an upcoming holiday but after wearing them around the house on a work day I can see myself going for the set a lot more, even dressing it up with heels and a bandeau for a night-out look.
Both the trousers and have a textured look and feel which I think makes the set look a lot more expensive than its £40 total price (currently £20 per item). The added flare detail on the sleeves is a plus too.
The only downside for me is that there is no petite option, no matter if I get the trousers hemmed they still won’t fit as well over the waist and torso area, which is why I ended up rolling the waistband.
Jada tries the Puff Sleeve Ruffle Shirt Mini Dress
The dress I recieved from ISawItFirst arrived really quickly. I'm often in between sizes but I decided to go with the smaller size due to the oversized nature of this dress and I'm so glad I did.
It's lightweight and thin enough that I didn't have to worry about sweating through it, and with the loose fit I didn't feel self conscious about bloating at all. That said it does completely hide your figure so if you want to show off your recent gains in the gym it might be tricky.
I like it for summer but it does need a lot of ironing, which is worth noting if you're planning on taking it abroad as I always overestimate my willingness to iron in a hotel room. I think it's great for picnics or even baby showers in the hot summer months, I paired it with a pair of heels as I joined friends for drinks but I think it would also work with sandals or trainers. It's a really versatile piece that comes in sizes 6 up to 16. You can buy it here for £20 on ISAWITFIRST's website.
Stacey tried the Stripe Cotton Boxer Shorts and Shirt set
Molly-Mae hints at showing baby in her first YouTube as she teases special videoI planned to wear my striped shorts and shirt co ord set on two occasions- and both turned out to be quite glum, rainy days but, I managed to create a cool and casual outfit when visiting the lovely Buxton Cresent Hotel & Spa where I wore the shirt for dinner.
I would have loved to be able to wear the full set already as the fit is perfect (I opted for an oversized fit in both items), but the weather has been playing games with me since I recieved my delivery!
The co ord set is £31 and for me, seems an absolute bargain for the versatility of how I can incorporate them into my already quite colourful wardrobe. The oversized fit means I can make use of both items for different occasions- you can't beat a versatile piece.
I LOVE the style of this shirt, it's a great mix and match item to have in my wardrobe during the summer months as a cover up over bikinis etc, too. This co ord set is going to be great to also add to my holiday wardrobe, particularly for a beach day out or even dressed up for an evening meal with heels and some statement jewellery pieces to show off a tan.
I would advise that the outfit is true to size, so no need to size up for the look I went for. This co ord will undoubtedly make you stand out in the crowd while feeling absolutely ready to enjoy an Aperol spritz in the sun.
I mean.... fashionable, comfortable and trending- the boxer short and shirt set trend is the one to look out for this summer.
Bethan tried the white
When Maya Jama walked into the Love Island villa for the first time this season in a jaw-dropping white crochet dress, I - and seemingly, the rest of the nation - immediately Googled “Maya Jama’s crochet dress”. Upon discovering the Gaia dress carried a £2,500 price tag, we collectively added ‘dupe’ to the end of that sentence in search of some more affordable options.
ISAWITFIRST’s is currently on sale for a much more wallet-friendly £30, available in white if you want to channel your inner Maya, or orange if you’re more of a dopamine dresser.
This isn’t a style I’d usually gravitate towards, but with a holiday to Portugal coming up, I’ve been looking for holiday outfits and this one is heading straight for the suitcase. The is cool and comfortable to wear, and the open crochet panel detail allows for the summer breeze to pass through and keep you from melting in the sun.
Having suffered with some body confidence issues in recent months, I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the cut out details or ladder knit sides, but it’s actually incredibly flattering and gave my figure a confidence-boosting silhouette, even giving a little sneak peek at my rarely-seen tattoos.
While it can be worn more casually as a beach cover up with a bikini, it definitely has enough coverage for it to be worn for evenings too, much like Maya’s Love Island look, with a pair of heels and glam makeup. Although, a pair of white undies is definitely recommended.
For a daytime look, I paired mine with my favourite and a pair of sunglasses, and while I’m no Maya Jama, it definitely had me feeling some type of way about myself. Hot girl summer is well and truly here.
