Ubisoft's upcoming FPS title, XDefiant, will soon be available to play in its open beta stage and will get a full release later this year.
For those who didn't get the chance to take part in the game's closed beta earlier this year, XDefiant will soon have an ongoing open beta which is now available to preload. After drawing in 1 million players during its first beta period, it's clear that this latest FPS title is out to kill Call of Duty and Warzone amid the franchise's ongoing struggles.
There are a lot of players asking how to pre-order XDefiant ahead of it's full release later this summer, and how much the game will cost to buy. But on that front, we have some good news for you.
The good news is that XDefiant will be a free-to-play game, just like it's rivals Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone and Destiny 2, so there's no need to worry about pre-ordering the game! XDefiant will be available for free across a wide range of platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC later this summer, but there's no confirmed specific release date yet.
As such, the XDefiant open beta is also free-to-play. But, you do need to register in order to get started, over on the XDefiant registration page. The open beta will be available for players on PC via Ubisoft Connect, as well as players on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, but players on Xbox One and PS4 won't be able to access the open beta and will have to wait until the game's full release to try it out.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingDespite XDefiant being free-to-play, there will be a wide range of in-game cosmetics available for purchase, including a 90-tier battle pass which Ubisoft confirmed in its roadmap for the title. But just like it's rivals, these are entirely optional and you won't need to buy any additional cosmetics or weapon packs to jump on the game and get playing.
