Morrisons has announced it is selling Easter eggs for less than £1 each - but there's a catch.

Cadbury's eggs are going for just 75p down from £1.50, with firm favourites including Smarties, Malteasers, Mini Eggs and Aero included in the deal.

But the supermarket giants are imposing a cap on the number of the chocolate treats each customer can buy - with a rule of no more than 20 each.

While that's still a lot of chocolate, the half price deal has sent customers into a frenzy and Morrisons is limiting the number each person can buy to prevent stockpiling and empty shelves.

The offer is available right up until Easter Sunday on April 9, and even the Easter Bunny has reportedly been stocking up.

Sharing a picture of ten eggs, Liam Till posted in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group: “Morrison’s 75p each don’t walk run [thumbs up emoji]”.

Another bargain hunter commented: "I didn’t even leave my house I bought 34 online." While one disappointed shopper wrote: "Blooming heck! I just paid £1.25 for one of those Freddo ones from Asda."

The deal has seen shoppers buying in bulk for a bargain Easter, with the offer available to order online until February 21. According to the small print, eggs are limited to 20 per person.

Facebook user Christine Ball shared a picture of her trolley loaded up with eleven full size Maltesers Easter eggs, six Aero Easter eggs, and three Cadbury's Buttons eggs - all for £15. She wrote: "Been there, done that yesterday."

One mum said that the Easter eggs were "suitable for small children".

She wrote: "I got my son 6 to give him a hamper." Another shopper added: "The 128g ones are a definite bargain."
