After lagging behind the competition for ages, and after the disastrous launch of Redfall, all eyes were on Xbox to come out swinging at the Xbox and Starfield showcase – and swing it did.

The Xbox and Starfield showcase would've been a winner from Starfield alone for most gamers. However Microsoft delivered one of the most packed and exciting showcases in recent years showing off the new Star Wars Outlaws game from Ubisoft, the upcoming Fable starring Richard Ayoade, three new games from the Persona team (even if two did leak beforehand), Sea of Thieves announcing the extremely obvious winning crossover with Monkey Island, and Like a Dragon 8 finally being revealed with a look at Ichiban Kasuga naked on a beach.

These titles were showcased alongside a bunch of first party Xbox titles like Avowed, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and Forza Motorsport.

As with the PlayStation Showcase in May, a lot of the games will be available on other platforms; in fact every title shown will be available on PC, and most will be available on PS5 (as we saw last year with the announcements of ports of Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal, Xbox often has a short window where games aren't announced for other platforms) but regardless, it was a great showing from Microsoft.

It was a packed showcase from Microsoft, hopefully the momentum Xbox has coming out of this will continue and it can build a compelling enough lineup to compete with the PS5.
