Donald Trump posted an unhinged rant on his Truth Social today in response to the historic unsealing of his indictment documents, calling special counsel Jack Smith 'deranged' for charging him with 37 criminal counts that could land the former president in jail for 100 years.

This afternoon, Trump released a series of posts on the social media platform that started with him defending his aide, Walt Nauta, after he too was charged with conspiracy and making false statements in an attempt to cover up the investigation for the stolen documents.

Trump wrote: "I have just learned that the 'Thugs' from the Department of Injustice will be Indicting a wonderful man, Walt Nauta... They are trying to destroy his life, like the lives of so many others, hoping that he will say bad things about 'Trump.'He is strong, brave, and a Great Patriot. The FBI and DOJ are CORRUPT!"

While it's unlikely Trump will serve a particularly long sentence, the former president certainly has much to worry about, as the unsealed documents revealed he stashed documents in his bathroom and knowingly stole documents containing nuclear secrets.

He has 37 charges total in this particular case.

The rants on his social media page are sporadic and full of accusations and insults towards investigators and the public at large.

His anger largely seems to be against the case's special prosecutor, Jack Smith, to whom Trump dedicated an entire post to on his socials.

"This is the man who caused the Lois Lerner catastrophe with the IRS. He went after Evangelicals and Great Americans of Faith. The United States had to apologize, and pay major damages for what this deranged lunatic did. He had a unanimous loss in the Supreme Court. His wife is a Trump Hater, just as he is a Trump Hater—a deranged 'psycho' that shouldn’t be involved in any case having to do with 'Justice,' other than to look at Biden as a criminal, which he is!" Trump wrote online, above a gaunt-looking photo of Smith.

Fox News and a few other conservatives came to Trump's defence, which he touted through his socials as well.

Jim Jordan, R-OH 4th district, penned a letter to Congress insisting that Trump is being persecuted as Biden's number one political rival. Trump reposted this letter on Truth Social with a big thank you. Jordan has become known for trying to intervene in various Trump probes and attempting to get Hunter Biden indicted for the same charges that Trump is being accused of.
