Street Fighter 6 offers up a unique alternate costume for every character on the roster, and here's how you can unlock them.

Capcom showed off the Outfit 2 trailer for Street Fighter 6 ahead of the game's launch last week, with an outfit for each of the games 18 base roster fighters being available to unlock right now in-game.

Currently only one alternate costume is available for each character in Street Fighter 6 – Outfit 2. These comprise of classic costumes based on each characters earlier designs for the returning cast, with some brand new drip for all of the newcomers showing off what is presumably their day-to-day wear.

How to unlock costumes in Street Fighter 6

The first – and more time consuming way – to unlock Outfit 2 takes you to the game's World Tour Mode. You'll need to max your Bond with a given character in World Tour to unlock their alternate costume in other game modes. Bond is the five circles listed alongside each Master with an indicator out of 100 – not the Mastery Level, which is a separate gauge filled by earning XP while using the Master's style.

Upping your Bond can be done in several ways; using the character's style and training with them can up the Bond meter, but the fastest way is through the gift system.

Gifts are miscellaneous items given to you throughout World Tour which you can give to a Master by selecting the gift option when you go to speak with them (Square on PS5, X on Xbox Series X|S). Each character has their own tastes so catering a gift specifically to a master can boost the gauge faster. You'll see a xUP indicator after giving a gift, these come in 1UP, 2UP, 5UP, and 40UP and show how much progress the gift has made. For example a bear wrestler like Zangief enjoys the bear sculpture, while the French fashionista Manon likes the French wine; each of these give 5UP, so pay attention to the small character moments and dialogue to get an idea of what gifts feel appropriate for each character.

40UP is another thing all together though. Some items are bespoke and won't allow you to gift them to anyone but their intended Master. For example, Retsu gives you 'Classy Confectionaries' during the 'Monk Without a Cause' side quest which when given to Ryu will boost his Bond gauge by 40 points. Keep an eye out for these gifts, which are typically earned through side missions or a masters friendship mission.

Meanwhile the quicker way is to bust out the wallet. Each Outfit 2 is available in the shop and runs you 50 Fighter Coins. Fighter Coins can be bought in bundles of the following:

So the cheapest bundle of Fighter Coins will get you three alternate costumes, at least for Outfit 2 – the pricing could be different for upcoming Outfits that presumably won't available in-game like the ones available in World Tour are. There's also a chance that the Fighter Coins will be available in the games battle pass however the battle pass and it's contents aren't available in the game at the time of writing, so we can't say for sure.

Obviously paying for content available in the game already isn't preferable, but it gives an option to players who are going to ignore the World Tour mode and head straight online.
