Street Fighter 6 allows you to Taunt your opponents during a match, but the input has gotten a bit more complicated since the mechanic was first introduced

Fighting games and Pro Wrestling have so much in common, theatricality and mind games have just as much to do with everything as technical expertise. Street Fighter 6, like many great fighters before it, allows you to Taunt your opponent mid-game at the risk of leaving yourself open to attack.

Street Fighter has had this mechanic since the Street Fighter Alpha series and has embraced it as a part of the series' core. Street Fighter 3's taunts actually gave players various buffs during matches, and of course the legendary Street Fighter Dan had a moveset built around taunting (including the Super Taunt, which uses up an entire Super meter just for a big Taunt).

In Street Fighter 3 and 4 taunting was performed by simply pressing both Heavy attacks. But since the introduction of mechanics like Drive Impact took the two Heavy attack input, things are a bit tricky in Street Fighter 6 for both Modern and Classic control types.

How to Taunt in Street Fighter 6

Taunting in Street Fighter 6 is fairly easy or hard depending on what your control layout is. To Taunt all you have to do is press every attack button simultaneously meaning all three Punch buttons and all three Kick buttons at the same time for Classic, and the four buttons for Modern (just make sure you don't accidently throw out a Super by pressing Special and Heavy first). The latter is a bit of a pain to do, but there are ways to make this easier. Plus, each character has multiple taunts based on if you press a direction alongside your Taunt.

With the Classic control type you have two extra buttons (by default these are the LB / LT and L1 / L2 buttons on Xbox and PlayStation respectively). The default control scheme has these buttons set to both Medium attacks and Heavy attacks for Drive Parry and Drive Impact respectively. However you can remap these so that one button does all three Punch buttons and another does all three Kick buttons, meaning you'll only need to press two buttons to taunt as opposed to six. This is my recommended method as having a button for all three of an attack also grants easier access to moves such as Zangief's OD Spinning Lariat and Dhalsim's Yoga Teleport without having to press multiple buttons.

But there is an even easier way! In that same button menu you can map a button to taunt. This includes the Dualsense Touchpad and the View Button on the Xbox Wireless Controller. Despite this being far easier, however, it wouldn't be my first choice. It's a fine option if you want to use the aforementioned Touchpad or View Button (although you'll need to reach over to tap that), but using one of the unused buttons for this instead of a more useful input is a waste (as fun as taunting your opponent is).
