Yet again, a male Member of Parliament has been suspended following claims of inappropriate sexual behaviour.

Labour says it takes the allegations against Geraint Davies incredibly seriously and has encouraged anyone with a complaint to
come forward.

But the party faces questions as to whether it should have acted far sooner, given that its whips were reportedly aware of informal accusations about the MP.

The allegations against Mr Davies, who denies wrongdoing, raise yet further questions about the culture in Westminster.

There are currently six MPs under investigation for allegedly inappropriate behaviour.

Grandstanding MPs have summoned the boss of ITV to account for circumstances surrounding the departure of Phillip Schofield.

Their time might be better spent getting their own house in order.

Selling us out

For the second year in a row, Amazon has avoided paying corporation tax on its main UK division.

The US Goliath makes billions of pounds in sales in this country and reported pre-tax profits of £222million in 2022.

But it was able to reduce its tax bill after taking advantage of a tax credits scheme introduced by Rishi Sunak when he was Chancellor.

Why is he handing tax breaks to global corporations to encourage them to make investments in machinery and infrastructure they would have almost certainly made anyway?

Nor does it make any sense to give a helping hand to a multibillion-pound business that stands accused of undercutting local stores.

The Prime Minister should be on the side of small firms, not corporate giants.

Moaner Lisa

The ex-US president claims he is as big an attraction as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
