The Prime Gaming free games lineup for June offers subscribers access to one of the best indie sequels ever, a futuristic football game featuring robots and a Dungeons and Dragons tie-in title.
Those who subscribe to Amazon Prime also gain access to the online retailer’s monthly digital games offering. Available via the Amazon Games App (downloadable on PC) the lineup for Prime Gaming June 2023 features more than a few treats by way of fantasy franchise tie-ins, the odd indie darling and near enough everything in between. It all kicks off from Thursday, June 1, with members being gifted at least two games near enough every week throughout the entire month.
The headline game this month is easily SteamWorld Dig 2, sequel to the immensely popular indie metroidvania that swaps out the original’s procedurally generated levels for an entire handcrafted underworld set beneath a steampunk vision of the Wild West. You play as Dorothy, a mining robot in search of her friend Rusty, who has somehow gone missing following the events of the first game. You’ll mine useful ore needed to upgrade your gear at the market up above. Using useful tools like a hookshot, bombs and Dorothy’s pneumatic arm, SteamWorld Dig 2 becomes available midway through the month on Thursday, June 15.
Just one week later is an unabashed PC classic, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. A revitalised and overhauled version of the classic 2002 PC version from Bioware, this is the Dungeons and Dragons licensed game the team made prior to working on the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games. The 3D graphics may have aged a little in the two decades since it first released, but Neverwinter Nights is a beloved fantasy RPG that has never looked better than it does here, not least thanks to a restored multiplayer mode and the ability to be played in 4K. Be sure to claim it if you’re a Prime member on Thursday, June 22.
The end of the month on Thursday, June 29 rounds out the Prime Gaming June 2023 lineup rather nicely with no less than three games arriving. Gems of Destiny: Homeless Dwarf offers a fantasy spin on the Match 3 genre while Once Upon a Jester offers subscribers the chance to impress peasant audiences as part of a zany 2D interactive adventure. Deckbuilder Roguebook is what card game fans will want to pay attention, though, being a turn-based roguelite from the creator of Magic: The Gathering that looks to very much scratch that Slay the Spire itch.
