Netflix's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story has got its release date - and it's only a few months to wait.
There was a special event held by Netflix and Shondaland today, which confirmed when the new series - a spin-off of their popular show Bridgerton - will be released. It will be a six-episode limited series and be released in May 2023.
Fans also got a first look at the brand new series with a new trailer and photos, whilst creator Shonda Rhimes were joined by a number of stars from the upcoming show including Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte.

India Amarteifio (Young Queen Charlotte), Corey Mylchreest (Young King George), and Arsema Thomas (Young Lady Danbury) were also at the global event whilst a couple of the other stars appeared via videotape.
Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) were also on hand to tease what's to come from the show, how it relates to the Bridgerton universe and how the actors got the inspiration for their roles.

"Centred on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton," the official synopsis reads ahead of the brand new series.
Fans can't wait for the new series (LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX)It comes after it was claimed that the filming of Bridgerton’s third season has been thrown into chaos after Netflix bosses decided a number of the scripts needed to be rewritten after Shonda Rhimes deemed a set of storylines to be "too dark" for the racy drama.
A source toldThe Mail on Sundayearlier this year: "We have been told that it needs the fun back so there are changes which, of course, means delays. One thing is for sure though, the production team want to get it right for Bridgerton fans so they enjoy it as much as they have in the past. There are some elements that Shonda is just not happy with so wants to change them."
