The following article contains spoilers for the final episode of Waterloo Road's latest series, which is available to watch on BBC iPlayer but has not yet aired on BBC One.

Waterloo Road fans will be left heartbroken by the death of one the school's pupils in a fire that breaks out in the series finale.

New episodes of the BBC drama have dropped on BBC iPlayer as the first episode of the second series aired on BBC One on Tuesday.

Bad boy Myles joined the school and wasted no time in making enemies when he clashed with fellow student Dwayne Jackson during a community football match.

The angry youngster injures himself during the match, putting his football career in jeopardy and leaving him extremely resentful when he joins Waterloo Road.

As the series progresses, Waterloo Road launches a new school radio and beloved pupil Danny uses it as a way of moving forward with his life by showing his teachers that he's serious about his education after his past mistakes.

Myles ends up alienating his classmates, pupils and even his mum, resulting in the frustrated schoolboy lashing out and starting a fire at the school.

As the teachers try desperately to save those trapped inside, they become aware Danny and Samia need help.

Both Samia and Danny are rescued but the latter rushes back inside the burning school when he realises an injured Myles is trapped.

The budding footballer manages to escape but Danny is caught up in an explosion.
