A man has claimed he's sacked his friend from his best man duties after finding out he had not been invited to his mate's own upcoming wedding ceremony. The pair have been mates for 25 years so he was a clear choice to be best man but the man was left upset that the feeling clearly wasn't mutual and he was not even on the guest list for his friend's own wedding.

The soon-to-be-married man was told on a Facebook group page that he was only invited to the reception for his best man's wedding.

In response, the groom decided to get himself another best man as he feels he values his friendship more than the other guy does.

Taking to Reddit, he explained that he understands wedding venues can be restrictive but felt upset his own best man and friend for over two decades did not even invite him to the ceremony.

In the post, the man, who remained anonymous, explained: "I asked my best friend, of 25 years to be my best man at my wedding.

"He said yes and from there things were fine, I'm due to get married in March and recently him and his fiancé made the decision to speed up their wedding and get married in April."

He added that he did not expect to be his friend's best man as well but felt he would at least get an invite to the wedding.

"Me and my fiancé received a Facebook message from a group page saying we were invited to his after party but that was it," he said.

"I understand the restriction of venues but to say the least, it hurt my feelings not to be invited so I made the decision to change my best man as he hasn't really done anything a best man would do anyway, (no stag party, etc) he will still be invited to the wedding."

In response, many have sided with the author of the post and said it is unreasonable of his friend not to invite him to his own wedding.

One person wrote: "He didn't even explain to you why you weren't invited to his wedding? That's odd, but clearly, he's not as invested in your friendship as you are. "

While another stated: "He can’t be your best man because he’s not even a man."
