The Late Queen Elizabeth II was thanked and praised in a touching BAFTA TV Awards 2023 tribute.

During Sunday night's awards show, the Memorable Moment Award went to Paddington Bear having tea with the late Queen during the Platinum Jubilee: Party At The Palace celebrations.

In June 2022, a sketch showing an afternoon tea between Paddington and the Queen was featured during Party at the Palace.

On the chaotically wholesome lunch date, Paddington accidentally splattered a cream scone on a butler’s face, before revealing he had a marmalade sandwich stashed away under his famous red hat for safekeeping.

The Queen then pulled out her iconic black handbag to reveal that she had a marmalade sandwich of her own hidden away.

After she died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland in September last year, the sketch quickly became an iconic moment in pop culture.

Almost a year after the sketch was released, it won an award at the BAFTA TV Awards.

Simon Farnaby, who played a footman in the video, accepted the accolade and thanked the Queen for her contribution.

"She had a very joyful Jubilee tea that day," he said.

"The person who most deserves this award is no longer with us, we can only accept it on her behalf and say 'Thank you, ma'am, for everything'."

While the crew who worked on the sketch took to the stage, a CGI Paddington Bear could be seen in the audience clapping for the winners.

Fans were feeling emotional watching the moment and took to social media to praise the 'beautiful speech'.

"What a beautiful speech. I'm so glad Paddington meets The Queen won tonight 'Thank you Ma'am for everything'," another wrote.

One delighted viewer posted: "Well done @paddingtonbear and the Queen, definitely well deserved! #BAFTATVAwards."
