A teenager was electrocuted after falling onto train tracks late at night.

The 16-year-old boy had fallen from a roof at Edinburgh's Waverley Station, the city's man train station used by thousands each day.

British Transport Police said the teen sustained serious injuries in the fall, including an electric shock.

They are now detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the incident on Monday at around 8pm.

It's understood the youngster suffered an electric shock while falling and touching overhead lines before hitting the tracks.

Edinburgh Live reports that paramedics were in attendance at the scene alongside British Transport Police, before he was rushed to hospital.

In a statement from detectives at the time, they said the 16-year-old suffered life-changing injuries and remains in the hospital in a stable condition.

Now, detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with the British Transport Police, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016 – with reference 795 of 08/05/23.

"Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
