Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes will rematch after last year's Super Bowl

The NFL schedule has been made official with the 2023 season edging closer and players, fans and officials able to make their plans and predictions for the upcoming campaign.

And while we're still months away from games being played, excitement is already building ahead of what should once again be a fascinating year, with a number of interesting storylines to look out for.

In what has already been a thrilling off-season with some huge names moving to new teams, as well as potentially over a dozen teams starting new quarterbacks - no-one truly knows which teams will emerge as Super Bowl favourites at this point.

As teams we suspect to be in contention face off and rivalries are renewed, Mirror NFL has taken a look at the five games that excite us, and those which will grab headlines once the season begins in September.

Super Bowl rematch (Week 11)

The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts will look to exact their revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in November.

The two teams put on an incredible game in February with the Chiefs just edging out the impressive Eagles, but Philadelphia have had an incredibly strong off-season, have signed quarterback Jalen Hurts to a huge contract and come into the year as one of the favourites to make it back.

We'll see just how strong these contenders are when they face each other on Monday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium.

Aaron Rodgers' debut (Week 1)

The first Monday night game of the NFL season will feature in Aaron Rodgers back in green once again - but this time in Emerald green with the New York Jets after his blockbuster trade away from the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers' first game of the season will be a prime time game against division rival Buffalo Bills, in what looks to be one of the trickiest divisions to pick in football as the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots hope to contend as well.

The Jets have also had a strong off-season in putting the requisite players around Rodgers in the hope of making the Jets a play-off contender for the first time in over a decade - the Bills have come up agonizingly short over the last couple of seasons and will provide a stern test.

Thanksgiving Thursday trio (Week 12)

This year's American holiday will see three exciting games, with three division rivals going up against each other.

In the first game, the Detroit Lions will host, as is tradition, against Jordan Love and the Packers - in what could be a changing of the guard with the Lions now being the favourites to win the division.

The middle game of the slate will see the Dallas Cowboys come up against the Washington Commanders, who are set for a new direction with their franchise close to being taken over.

And the final game could be another changing of the guard, with the Seattle Seahawks resurgent after moving on from Russell Wilson, coming up against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Tyreek Hill revenge game in Germany (Week 9)

Unfortunately for Tyreek Hill, he will not be returning to Arrowhead Stadium this season - instead facing his former team in Frankfurt in one of five international games announced for the 2023 season.

Hill has already spoken on wanting to be the Chiefs 'worst enemy' when they face one another in November, after the team traded him away for a draft haul as well as freeing themselves of over $20 million in cap space.

The Dolphins have had one of the stronger off-seasons, acquiring superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey who will hugely elevate their defence.

Many see them as Super Bowl contenders, and they will face the ultimate test of their credentials against the defending champions.

Bryce Young vs CJ Stroud (Week 8)

These two quarterbacks have been friendly rivals for over four years, seen as the number one and two recruits throughout their times in high school and college.

And that's exactly where they were drafted last month, with Bryce Young going to the Carolina Panthers at number one before the Houston Texans selected CJ Stroud with the second overall pick.

While the game might not be a great spectacle, with both looking like they could struggle this season, it will be fascinating to see how two talented prospects face off against one another as both franchises hope they could be the start of a bright future.
