A woman has been uninvited from her sister's wedding after she said she was not comfortable in the dress the bride had picked out for her.

The sister has been planning her dream wedding for years and wanted all the girls on their side of the family to be in the same dress - so she was not happy when the woman suggested a change to hers.

The woman has scars down her arms which she doesn't want on show during the ceremony and doesn't want them appearing in photos.

However, the bride-to-be told her sister not to come when she asked to add long sleeves to her dress to hide the scars.

Airing her frustrations on Reddit, the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "Now her wedding is in the summer so short sleeves are kind of a must have, but I have scars all down my arms and do not want them on show at the wedding. I pulled her aside and asked if I could get a dress with sleeves or if I could wear sleeved gloves.

"She said no and that she wants everyone to look the same, so I couldn't wear sleeves or have a different dress. I said I wasn’t comfortable having my arms on show around such a large amount of people and that you would see them in all the pictures."

The bride-to-be suggested she put makeup on her scars but the woman is unable to do this for them so she told her that if she cannot cooperate she just shouldn't come.

The woman wrote: "She sent out her invites a few weeks ago and messaged me asking why I haven’t confirmed that I’m going. I said that I'm still not comfortable being in short sleeves and that I will just not attend since I don’t want to ruin her perfect day by dressing differently.

"She complained saying that she had already bought the dresses and I said I'll give her the money for mine but she didn’t listen. I know I probably sound selfish and I shouldn’t let my own issues be priority over my sisters wedding but I don’t like being in short sleeves and there’s no other way to work around it."

In response, many have supported the woman and said the bride's rule is over the top.

One person wrote: "You came up with a perfect solution with the gloves. Her not accepting it because of some ridiculous perfectionist aesthetic that no one will care about is absurd."

While another stated: "If she wanted everything looking uniform all the others could wear long gloves. I doubt they would complain under the circumstances."
