The Kansas City Chiefs have been allocated their white road jerseys with the Philadelphia Eagles set to wear the green home strips - and Chiefs fans will be hoping they've been given a historical advantage at tonight's Super Bowl.

The game will see two of the most explosive offenses in the league go head-to-head, with league MVP Patrick Mahomes leading his Chiefs - hoping to secure is second Super Bowl and become the first quarterback to win a ring and an MVP in the same season.

But the Chiefs come into the game as the underdogs, with the Eagles and Jalen Hurts looking dominant throughout the season - winning both of their playoff games in comfortable fashion.

Tonight's Super Bowl sees the Eagles been given the home time title, and was given the choice of what coloured jersey to wear - going with green - with the Chiefs wearing their white jerseys.

The last two occasions that the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl, they wore their red jerseys in 2020 in a win over the San Francisco 49ers and a loss the following season to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs win over the Niners in red, saw them become only the third time in the last 18 years to win in colour - with teams who wear white winning 15 times in that period.

The Green Bay Packers' win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, the Eagles' win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII and the Chiefs' win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV are the only three to win in colour since 2005.

With the Chiefs wearing their white road jerseys tonight, history will be on their side, as Mahomes looks to enter the greatest of all-time conversation alongside Brady.

The Eagles will hope to re-write history though, with their dominant defence arguably being the toughest that Mahomes has come up against this season. The Chiefs could be hampered by Mahomes' ankle, as he suffered a sprain three weeks ago when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It's an injury that usually sees players sidelined for as long as two months, but the superstar passer will play through the pain being aided by his high-flying offense.
