A plane's window was smashed after a mid-air brawl broke out at 35,000ft.

Passengers and crew were left terrified after the ruckus on a flight between Cairns and Darwin in Australia on Thursday night.

The chaos lead to two emergency landings, with four of the passengers charged by police.

During the second incident, which was caught on camera, one of the men is seen raising a bottle over his head to strike another passenger.

The first scrap lead to the aircraft being turned back to Cairns, a city in Queensland.

Cops removed a woman from the aircraft before charging her with disorderly behaviour and failing to follow safety instructions.

Thinking that was the end of the anti-social behaviour, the aircraft set off to make the trip a second time.

But then the parties involved in the first flight got worked up, began arguing and another fight broke out.

The pilot brought the plane down at Alyangula on Grotte Eylandt.

They were met by Northern Territory police who arrested three individuals.

A 23-year-old male was charged with intentionally endangering the safety of others, aggravated assault, property damage, disorderly behaviour in a public place, as well as a breach of a domestic violence order.

Another woman, 23, was hit with similar charges, and a 22-year-old passenger was arrested on drug charges.

Though the name of the aircraft carrier hasn't been revealed, Qantas, Jestar, Virgin and Airnorth all fly between the two cities.
