Tom Brady's official retirement has been hilariously mocked by former team New England Patriots, after the quarterback initially called time last year.

Brady is a certified NFL legend, and has brought an immense amount of success to the Patriots franchise. Brady won six Super Bowl titles as a Patriot, before leaving to win a seventh crown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 45-year-old announced his retirement last year with an emotional 'essay' as he stated in his own words, but all of the tributes and messages were put on hold as he soon changed his mind. However, Brady's now confirmed he's done "for good" and the Patriots decided to re-post their initial tribute.

It feels like Deja vu in the NFL, with Brady confirming his retirement after his season came to an end. This time the iconic no.12 says it's for good, as he referenced his change of heart last year.

Brady reversed his decision to retire to run it back once more with the Buccaneers, although it was a pretty unsuccessful season despite making the play-offs. There's no doubt that Brady can still play, but he's decided to call it quits while he's at the top.

His new decision comes exactly a year after his previous announcement, and back then the Patriots tweeted: "It was quite the ride. Thank you and congratulations @TomBrady."

But rather than offer a new message, their Twitter page decided to simply retweet their previous message a year ago, adding: "Quite the ride indeed. Thank you again, @TomBrady."

However, this wasn't all they posted, as they also tweeted three goat emojis when quote tweeting his announcement video. In addition, they posted a gif of Brady celebrating with his six Super Bowl rings he won with the Patriots.

It was all in good taste, and even Brady himself began his announcement video slightly mocking his former self, saying that he'd already used up his long essay last year. Brady said in his announcement video: "I'll get to the point right away. I'm retiring. For good.

"I know the process was a pretty big deal last time so I woke up this morning I figured I'd just press record and let you guys know first so, it won't be long winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much for supporting me.

"My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors - I could go on forever, there's too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing. Love you all."
