Rebel Wilson's pal Hugh Sheridan has explained why they still hasn't met their best friend's new baby daughter.

The actor and singer, 37, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, has revealed the reasoning behind having not met Rebel's baby girl Royce.

Rebel welcomed Royce Lillian born via surrogacy last year in November 2022 after years of fertility struggles.

Speaking about the Australian star's bundle of joy and how they haven't got to meet her yet, Hugh revealed that they have been incredibly busy with work.

Hugh said: "I've been going hard since the end of last year – we did Solitary Man, we shot Five Bedrooms, we put out Back to the Rafters – it's been really busy but really fulfilling.

"I'll be going back to LA after this Sydney run and will finally get to meet Royce," they added to The Daily Telegraph.

Hugh then went on: "When I was back there, they were away so I haven't seen them yet – but I'm looking forward to connecting to all my friends over there."

Rebel welcomed her baby daughter last year - two years after she made the decision to freeze her eggs.

The decision came as her 40th birthday approached, with the reasoning behind it due to polycystic ovarian syndrome - which in turn urged the star to lead a healthier lifestyle and sparked her weight loss.

Hugh, who introduced Rebel and her fiancée Ramona to each other, spoke to The Morning Show last year about the couple's "love bubble" and how they hadn't seen much of Rebel.

"Well I'm looking forward to seeing them again," Hugh said, adding: "I think what happens is people go into a love bubble - so I lost two of my best friends to one relationship."

The Pitch Perfect star came out on Instagram in June 2022, revealing her relationship with Ramona Agruma while posting on Instagram, "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess."

Earlier this year on February 19, Rebel announced that she and Ramona had got engaged while holidaying at Disneyland in California
