A little girl was left with a 'sliced' head that needed glueing together after a bus driver 'slammed' onto the breaks, sending her 'flying' off her seat.

Levaeha Mae Connolly, 3, had been on the 37 Diamond bus service driving through Salford on Wednesday (April 19) when her mum Chloe claims the bus driver hit the breaks, causing her to fall off her seat and smack her head on the chairs in front.

Crying and distressed, they took her to the hospital, where doctors glued a bleeding wound on her forehead.

The bus provider confirmed it was conducting an internal investigation into the incident.

Mum Chloe Brown said: "We were on our way home from Bolton. At one point the driver decided to speed up then all of a sudden he slammed on.

"That is when our three-year-old came flying off her seat as we was sat in the front with my husband and her baby sister. She hit her head on the folding down chairs seat and it sliced her head.

"We got off the bus because our daughter was bleeding. We ran to the nearest chemist who gave us a bandage until we got to the hospital," she told the Manchester Evening News.

Levaeha was scared and in tears when she was taken to Salford Royal Hospital to have her wound glued and is now unable to attend nursery, her mum said.

"She was crying very loudly and couldn’t settle at first. She was scared about going to the hospital," Chloe added. "Our child is going to be scarred for life and is unable to attend nursery.

A spokesperson for Diamond North West said: "We are aware of the incident that occurred yesterday on one of our services. We are currently conducting an internal investigation around this incident and therefore unable to comment any further at this moment in time."
