Love Island's Tasha Ghouri slammed after failing to disclose paid TikTok advert

Love Island's Tasha Ghouri has been criticised by the Advertising Standards Authority after failing to label a TikTok video as a paid advert.

The reality star had been paid to use the song Hold Me Closer by Elton John and Britney Spears in one of her clips but there was no mention of this on her page.

In the video which Tasha posted in December, the 24-year-old offered an insight into her life which included presenting jobs and discussing her cochlear implant.

Captioning on her video, she penned: "pov you're doing what you're passionate about using my voice," while the post caption read: "#TinyDancer #HoldMeCloser sounded."

Tasha had been paid by EMI Records to use the Hold Me Closer remix by Joel Corry on the video.

However, Off Limits Entertainment, who offered a response on behalf of Tasha claim that the sound advert was clearly marked in the caption of her post.

They added that when working alongside influencers, they request that either 'musicad' or 'soundad' is added to the post.

But the ASA claim that 'soundad' wasn't as visible meaning it could have been mistaken for 'sounded'.

Now, in a ruling, the ASA has said:" We considered, however, it unlikely that all UK TikTok users would understand the meaning of the label 'soundad'.

"We considered the 'ad' part of the label was insufficiently prominent and we considered that it could be interpreted as a misspelling of 'sounded'.

"We, therefore, considered that the label 'soundad' was not sufficiently clear to indicate that the post, in particular the soundtrack, was advertising."

They added: "We concluded that the post was not obviously recognisable as a marketing communication and therefore breached the Code."

Meanwhile, TikTok claim that the video had been tagged as branded and she had used the specific tool which is listed under their Terms of Service and Branded Content Policy.

The star recently opened up about her experience at the US festival, Coachella, which she described as "draining".

Sharing her story with her 821.8K TikTok followers, Tasha said: "As someone that's hearing impaired I get really really bad migraines and headaches and honestly I get so drained, and it's so hard with festivals because literally like about three hours in I've got the biggest migraine because of the loud music and I'm having to focus in on conversations and what's being said and it is a lot.

"Like even when I came to America and even like the border, I was so scared that I was panicking basically that I wouldn't be able to hear the questions they asked and I start to stutter quite a lot because my nerves start to come through.

"So I feel like when it comes to festivals and stuff I always panic that I won't be able to hear anyone or like have conversations and stuff. It's one of those things that goes through my head quite a lot, not even just festivals but any kind of event that I go to, I literally get into such like panic-mode."

Tasha added: "Today is the last day of Coachella and I really really want to go, I get such FOMO if I don't go, I with the migraine and the headache, it's a lot, and I just feel like I kinda just need to slow down, roll back, and just listen to myself basically."
