Everyone knows it's 'wrong' to wear white to another person's wedding - but it seems some people just can't help themselves.

As was the case with one woman was shamed after admitting to wearing her second-choice wedding dress to someone else's special day.

She says she "got so many compliments" in the floor-length gown designed by Alice Temperley. However now she has worn it once, she is ready to part ways with it, selling it online for $200 (£161).

In her advert, she wrote: "Wore this once recently as a guest to a wedding and got so many compliments. It has since been professionally dry-cleaned. I originally bought it to be my wedding dress, but was outvoted by my mum who wanted me in something more traditional.

"Would work great as a special occasion gown or as a wedding dress for an edgier bride. The back is stunning."

Gobsmacked over her admission, an online shopper shared her advert on Reddit with the caption: "Seller openly admits to wearing a wedding dress as a guest".

In response, one user said: "Anyone else notice the comment about an 'edgier bride' can maybe wear it?

"I mean, that isn’t what I would call an 'edgy' dress unless you’re stupid enough to try wearing it to someone else’s wedding at least..."

Another user added: "If she actually got compliments, I really hope it was a wedding where people were encouraged to wear white. But otherwise, geeezzzz..."

A third user said: "Why do I get the feeling it was petty revenge on someone?

"She said her mum wouldn't let her wear this dress to her own wedding, I wonder who's wedding she wore it to. Her mum's?"

One more user added: "I’m betting that the compliments were along the lines of 'How brave of you!' and 'That’s really bold of you!', and the like. Which is why she thinks this dress is 'edgy'."
