Buying a house is a major achievement, usually celebrated by everyone around, but when influencer Katylee Bailey shared her exciting news she was hit with major backlash from trolls.

The 21-year-old shared a TikTok of herself popping a bottle of confetti as she joyously told her 2.8 million followers that she had purchased a home, mortgage free.

Unfortunately Katylee's excitement was cut short as the video went viral and haters quickly filled her comments, attacking her for sharing the news as others are not so fortunate.

At 21-years-old Katylee was able to buy her own home outright thanks to her success on video platform TikTok, with millions of viewers watching her fun lifestyle content.

The video, which now has almost four million views, was captioned: "Biggest achievement of my life. Here's to my new chapter."

Many praised Katylee, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, for investing her money - one comment said: "That is unbelievable, so many 'influencers' just buy designer bags, flashy cars but you really set yourself up for life amazing Katy!"

Another added: "Congratulations Katy - I wish you all the best in your new home." while others flooded her comments with "well done" and other positive sentiment.

However, trolls also took to attacking the 21-year-old for her achievement, comparing her situation to others who are not as fortunate.

One said: "And I can't even afford to buy myself a dairy milk bar from the Co-op"

"Well done but it's crazy to me that people work, saving throughout their lives and will probably work till their 70 to pay off the mortgage," came another critic.

After the backlash, Katylee shared a follow up. Struggling to hold back tears, as she said: "I just wanted to come on here to say that I'm sorry to anyone who feels like I'm bragging about the house thing.

"Yes, the system is absolutely f***ed, I will never get my head around the fact that I've become so lucky."

In TikTok, which is over two minutes long, Katylee shared that she had not grown up with money so had never dreamed of owning a home. The teary video also has almost four million views, with thousands and comments and likes supporting her.

This time, she was overwhelmed with positive messages, with fellow influencer Miriam Mullins commenting: "You deserve it so much Katylee. You've clearly worked so hard to get to where you are & should be so proud of yourself. It’s just jealous people."

She replied: "Thank you so so so much… I need to keep reminding myself that xx"

Katylee never intended to make a career out of TikTok, instead posting videos as "as a bit of fun". But now earns up to £1,000 per video, according to The Telegraph and Argus. She has quit university and is now a full time content creator.
