Customers have slammed Tesco for accidentally renaming an English town after misspelling its name on a store sign.
The store in Hastings, East Sussex, misplaced an apostrophe in the town's name – much to the disgust of some locals.
One shopper even claimed she nearly vomited after spotting the mistake during her weekly food shop.
Teacher Jo Harbrd was shopping in the Hastings Extra when she saw the sign that read: "Serving Hasting's shoppers a little better every day." In fact, it should have said: "'Hastings'."
Livid, Jo shared her disgust online. She wrote: "Please rectify this punctuation issue in your Hastings Extra store.

However, not everyone felt so strongly about the error. One reply read: "B*****y hell you must have an easy life." Someone else said: "Imagine caring."

Elsewhere, a commenter wrote: "The people of Hastings didn't fight in 1066 to have to put up with this s**t."
"Vomit how pathetic," thought another.
Fortunately, Jo says Tesco has since been in touch to say they "appreciate" that she made them aware of the sign.
A spokesperson for Tesco told the Mirror: "We have arranged for window signage at our Hastings Extra store which includes a misplaced apostrophe to be replaced."
It's not the first time the supermarket has come under fire for an awkward mistake.
Back in 2021, shoppers were left in stitches after a Tesco bakery displayed a sign saying 'Apology for any incontinence' instead of 'inconvenience.'

One amused viewer said: "Tesco bakery is wild." God I hope that was intentional," quipped another.
Owning up to the mistake with a witty apology, a Tesco spokesperson said: "A very unfortunate but amusing typo – we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused though."
