Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts has provided an update on her cancer journey while appearing on Celebrity Bake Off.

The 44-year-old told fans that she had been receiving chemotherapy during filming for the show last year.

She was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer in 2021 before undergoing treatment and eventually being given the all-clear.

Adele took to the kitchen in Celeb Bake Off alongside Tom Daley, David Morrissey and Lucy Beaumont.

While she didn't win the show, Adele impressed the judges with her excellent baking skills.

"I was actually on chemo in the tent. I was overheating most of the time. I had an ice machine to keep me cool," she penned on Instagram.

"I also can’t remember most of this. I know I had an amazing day… but watching it back now is so special."

Adele recently revealed that she was on course for to getting her colon working again after beating the disease.

The BBC Radio 1 star underwent surgery following her diagnosis.

In a health update shared on Instagram, she said she was "nervous" ahead of surgery which could result in her being able to use the toilet "the old-fashioned way" some day.

Adele was fitted with a stoma in October - a device used to collect waste that usually passes through the colon.

Prior to the surgery, doctors told the former Big Brother contestant she may never be able to go to the toilet normally again.

"I may be down a rectum but I think there’s enough left to blag it and get things moving again," Adele explained.

"The fact I can recover from bowel cancer, have a stoma, start getting my life back on track and today a balloon up my bum to sort out my stricture is just marvellous.
