Danielle Armstrong has opened up about her pregnancy journey, admitting she was so desperate to conceive that she told husband Tommy Edney “Get me pregnant now!”.
The former TOWIE star, 34, is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child, with the pair already parents to two-year-old Orla.
Danielle and Tommy started trying for their “very planned” second baby while on their honeymoon in the Maldives, last September.
The reality star revealed to OK! that it took her and Tommy three months to conceive, opening up about the pressure they faced, despite Danielle getting pregnant fairly quickly.
She said: “As soon as the wedding was over, I was like, ‘Get me pregnant now!’ And jumped on him.”
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportDanielle went on to describe herself as being like ‘a dog on heat’ due to wanting to get pregnant quickly.
She said: “Because we knew we wanted a baby and I’m a bit of a control freak, I just wanted to get pregnant as quickly as possible.”
Despite joking that Tommy ‘probably really enjoyed it for those few months’, she admitted that it became more ‘mechanical’ as time went on.
Danielle said: “Towards the end, it got a bit mechanical – ovulation dates and when to have sex. It worked, but I can imagine it being quite stressful for couples who are trying for longer than a year because it does take the romance out of it.”
The mum-of-one spoke out about the effects that trying for a baby has on women, and the pressure they face to conceive, admitting that waiting a month to take a pregnancy test “felt like a year”.
She continued: “It was an easy process, but when you’re going through it and you’re planning and want a baby so much and everyone around you is getting pregnant, it’s like, ‘Ah, is it going to happen?’ I found the experience of trying and planning for a baby harder than it was with Orla – because that was a surprise and a blessing.”
Upon discovering she was pregnant, Tommy admitted his wife didn’t think she was pregnant, believing she had come on her period instead.
Deciding to do a test, Danielle couldn’t believe the positive result. She said: “Oh my God I was screaming. I did three because I didn’t believe it. It started off in the morning really sad and I was in a total mood and then by the evening I was going, ‘Oh my God, we’re pregnant!’”
