LIV Golf rebels involved in Netflix's PGA Tour series 'Full Swing' have been given the chance to "explain" their controversial decision, with the aftermath of the fallout shown by the behind-the-scenes cameras.

Full Swing is finally set to hit TV screens next week on February 15. The show is a highly-anticipated one following the chaos that has unfolded in the sport in the past 12 months due to the formation of LIV Golf.

Both LIV and the PGA Tour have been locked in an ugly dispute since the formation of the Saudi-backed series last summer, after a number of the sport's biggest names made the contentious decision to join the LIV set-up.

A number of these rebels - including the likes of Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka - will feature in the fly-on-the-wall Netflix series. It remained unknown as to how the story of those who chose to defect would be told, after they were dramatically suspended from the PGA Tour due to their newfound LIV allegiances partway through the season.

Full Swing's executive producer Chad Mumm though has told Mirror Sport that the Netflix cameras continued to follow the LIV members in the aftermath of their Saudi switch. Mumm said: "We had committed to the players that were there to tell their story. Same with the Tour, good or bad we would be there.

"We were really grateful that the players who had gone continued to give us access, and we continued to film." Following their contentious move, those who chose to defect faced plenty of criticism from fans, pundits and many of their fellow players.

Many have kept their cards close to their chest amid the backlash, but Mumm revealed those who were involved in filming have been given the chance to explain their decision. "We continued to film with them until towards the end of the season," he added.

"We weren’t going to just abandon those story lines. It was important to give them a chance to explain themselves, and let them be the voice of why they went, not filtered through someone else’s reporting." One LIV star who is set to feature heavily in the docuseries is Ian Poulter.

Poulter was one of the marquee names to make the Saudi switch last summer, and has been heavily involved in the LIV-PGA Tour divide in the months that have followed. Most famously, the Englishman is best known for his remarkable Ryder Cup record which has seen him star for the Europeans over the past two decades.

Mumm however has assured golf fans that they will see a different side to the 47-year-old on the show. Speaking about Poulter, he said: "Ian is a one of a kind character in all of sport. I have been watching Ian beat the US team for many years. He is a fascinating character.

"Whether you love him or hate him, this show will open up a new window into his life, and I am so grateful for Ian’s trust and that he let us film in a very consequential year, which potentially is rewriting who he is in golf."
